Dark Day in the history of This Country

Today is the dark day in the history of our Country, not that there have be other occasions where the acts of some despicable creatures have shamed our nation…but this one tops all, for our Government has proven it is the worst kind ever to be forcefully elected and rule over us Indians….

A country where women are trashed, used, ill respected, molested, raped time and again, not only physically but also mentally, today is a special day, for the Government of India is raping the entire nation, the youth of this country…which is taking a bold stand and trying to protest against this national outrage…It is disgusting how the government is totally out of sync with the realities of our changing nation.

This post is in particular regarding this one courageous 23 year old, who is battling it out in the ICU of Safdarjung hospital, after being admitted on Sunday night, whereby she had to go through various surgeries. The details of the rape are unspeakable of, for it is a shame to humanity, that the girl was not only repeatedly raped by the 6 animals but also penetrated with an iron rod while on the moving bus and was finally flung out of the bus brutally to await her fate to die..

The surgeons said, that her injuries are so grave that, her intestines had to be removed and they were initially doubtful she would even survive.

Here is an article from Dailymail of the aftermath and also the latest on this incident click here, Delhi Rape Victim News
As we continue to witness horrific scenes of clashes enfold between the innocent protestors and the police force, I feel there should be laws against the Lawmakers, who are using their high handed approach to assault the innocent people who are standing up against immense atrocities…carried out by these lawmakers…They should be on the receiving end as well one day….

With tainted, rapists sitting in the Parliament… it is despicable how there can be any hope of justice for this Nation…I wish these people are also meted out the same trauma that the citizens of this country have to face….day in and day out…

This event calls out for a National bandh, it is horrific, at such a day the President of the country has nothing to offer the people of this nation, this day should be the Death of the government…And its only through our constant struggle and voice this can be executed…Sign the petitions to strengthen the laws…

The petition is to the President and the Chief Justice of Supreme Court of India…

To:Pranab Mukherjee, President of India

Chief Justice of India, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India
The gang-rape of a 23-year-old student in a moving bus on the night of December 17 in the capital city of Delhi has triggered anger, outrage and shock amongst every citizen this country. The National Crime Records Bureau records 572 rapes reported from Delhi for the year 2011. This year 635 rapes had already been reported as of December 15, 2012, Rape is not a problem that afflicts Delhi alone. In recent months, we have seen a rising crime graph against women being reported from virtually every corner of the country including Haryana, Kerala and Bangalore.

Each time a rape is reported, civil society reacts with anger and outrage, which unfortunately dies down and is forgotten, until the next time. The question to ask: what is the inflexion point? At what stage do we say collectively and in one voice: Enough.

Many solutions have been offered in the light of this particular gang-rape and in the past. Some of these include:

1. The setting up of fast track courts (as in Rajasthan recently) to ensure speedy trials.
2. The imposition of maximum, exemplary sentence.
3. The immediate clearing of all pending cases involving crimes against women.
4. Immediate training and sensitisation of police force to crimes against women, including domestic violence, molestation and sexual assault.
5. The immediate passage of pending bills that seek to protect women, including the Protection of Women Against Sexual Harassment at the Workplace Bill 2012 and the Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill 2012
6. Consultations with the Ministry of Human Resources to see how best to address the issue of sensitising boys through the school curriculum.
7. National-level, open consultations involving civil society and other stake-holders on how best to tackle the growing misogyny and hostility against women as well as rising crimes against them.
8. Ensuring safe public transport for all citizens by installing CCTVs and conducting due diligence of employees including bus drivers, cleaners etc.

Despite having so many women in positions of political leadership, a survey by TrustLaw found India to be ranked as the worst country in the world for women. At a time when women are increasingly claiming their rightful share of half the sky and asserting their autonomy and independence, the rising crimes against them are conducted with absolute impunity by criminals who have no fear of the law.

We are writing to you in the hope that you will direct government and judiciary to take special note of the escalation of gender violence and work together on a priority basis to implement the measures detailed above.

Lack of gender justice, lack of fear of the law, police and judicial apathy, failure of governance and shrinking public spaces is a matter of grave concern, not just for women but for every citizen of this country.

Sincerely,
[Your name]

  2. Hello Seeta! I was reading this earlier when I got this in my inbox and I was in disbelief. It’s terrible how people can turn a blind eye when the reality is right in front of them. I am very sorry that women in your country, in fact, women from all over the world have to go through this just because we are women. I applaud you for writing this post and for
letting the world know the harsh truth that’s been happening in your country while being ignored. I’m not sure who should become officials anymore because it seems that when one achieves power, they forget everything else but greed. I can only hope and pray that change will be upon us soon, the better kind of change for everyone.

    • Hi Donah,

I’m glad, you took time out to read this post, since this was essential for humanity…Not that I’m not ashamed to live in such a country, in spite of the growing corruption and various other women related atrocities…but still we feel there is some hope..since many of us are coming forward now and voicing their thoughts and attempting to show the real India to the rest of the World…But wonder what more does this country needs to go through, for its conscience to finally come alive and initiate change that this country is desperately waiting for…CHANGE IN LEADERSHIP…CLEAN AND PROMPT GOVERNANCE…

I hope voices like ours are heard and finally CHANGE comes through…My sincere prayer to GOD will always be this..
      DEAR LORD,
PLEASE GIVE CLEAR CONSCIENCE TO THE LEADERS OF THIS NATION, WHO ARE IMMERSED IN ARROGANCE OF POWER, OBLIVIOUS TO THE FACT THAT, ONE DAY THEY TOO ARE GOING TO FACE, WHAT THEY ARE MAKING THE CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTRY TO GO THROUGH EACH AND EVERY DAY AND THAT IS SHEER AGONY AND PAIN DUE TO THEIR APATHY. AND LET THEM REALIZE WHAT GOES AROUND WILL SURELY AND DEFINITELY COME AROUND….

  3. I am so upset about what is happening in the country. I can’t believe we have such monster around. I was literally shivering and and couldn’t sleep for days after this incident took place. I am glad you took this initiative. I think its high time for our govt to wake up.

    • Hi beautywidbrainz thank you so much for taking the time out to visit the blog and also give your valuable comment..I notice you are also an Indian, and I’m proud that this time around, each of us is voicing our opinion about the heinous and unspeakable crime that has rocked not only our nation but the whole of humanity…I’m sure this incident must have brought India to the highest pedestal of Inhumanity by those culprits, insensitivity by our gov, extreme arrogance of police force in showing their muscle power, and extreme solidarity of the people and youth of this nation, at a grave time like this..So it is our responsibility that we spread the word as much possible and bring about as much awareness not only amongst ourselves, our country but also with the international community…to show the apathy of the leaders of this country to the rest of the world…At a time like this also, they are going around with normal business and extending bi lateral ties..it is shameful when they can’t even strengthen the law and order for their own country…and they are expecting to strengthen ties with the rest of the world…Nothing can be as shameful as this….Wonder if she was any Ministers or CM’s daughter..we would have seen the real color of these leaders…Shameful!! Do sign the petition and spread the word..Jai Hind…And God give strength to the girl…

  4. This is so saddening to see how society is morally deteriorating. Much prayers to the poor girl, and to so many of the voiceless victims. I hope justice will be served, and that there will be strong laws enforced against such atrocities in the near future.

    • Hi cinnaspring thank you so much for taking the time out in the holiday season and also showing your solidarity…Thanks girl and do sign and share the petition and spread the word regarding the apathetic front taken by the officials of our country..which is really saddening example to the whole of humanity and should stop…once and for all…that is why this awareness. I really hope there is a change of conscience in the people of this nation..and strive to bring about real change…

  5. Seeta, it is saddening and a shame that such atrocities take place. My heart bleeds for the girl and her family. She may be the one physically raped but her entire family was raped just as well for they carry the mental anguish and hurt inside the heart, mind and soul. Within this sadness, of course, is the fact that your country is not the only victim of corrupt government that has no soul. No one is safe any longer…man, woman, or child when there are those who have no respect for human life. Just as here in America, it is the people who must let their voices be heard in order for the necessary changes to be made. It starts with a few but those few reach far and beyond to another few until the few once a minority become the majority. You are a very brave soul who has reached out in the name of humanity!

    • Hey Sharla…! First of all wishing you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in advance..and Glad that in this holiday season too, you took time out to visit my blog..It is really great…yes..you are correct when you say, not only the girl but her entire family is distressed with this one incident…and life would not be the same for this little girl ever again..and that too, if she survives her 7 day, horrific ordeal…where her entire intestines had to be removed…and even if she survives today, she would never be able to eat a single meal….So I wonder what more this govt. is waiting for, if they can’t deliver speedy justice to this girl….than there is no hope for our nation…but with little efforts by each and everyone of us, here we are trying as much possible to bring out stringent laws and the enforcement of the same..not just in paper but the execution…so lets pray for her and for a collective change in conscience of this largely patriarchal society…And thank you so much for visiting, hope you signed the petition and I do have one more for you to sign..which is going straight to the President and the chief justice of supreme court of India..thanks once again for showing your solidarity..it is much appreciated..https://www.change.org/en-IN/petitions/president-cji-stop-rape-now?utm_campaign=autopublish&utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=share_petition

      • Hi Sharla,

Just want to let you know that, the braveheart is not amongst us anymore…though she put up a brave fight…but I guess her soul knew what was the right thing to do…and she is no more…though she has left us..but there is this void in our hearts and each and everyone is connected to her now..with this common thread called humanity…and she did what most of our leaders are never able to do…connect and unify common people in this darkest hour of life…where there are so many crimes and attrocities..where a persons life has no meaning…she gave us a hope to stand up for fellow humans…and fight for a common cause…So today, I would like to give my deepest condolences to her family, but also pray strongly for the Moksha of her Soul and may she rest in peace for ever…For what ordeal she went through, through her waking life, is worst than, any enemy would suffer…But she had come to us like God, who took all the sufferings inflicted upon himself, so that he can teach something to the still naive and materialistic human race…She came, she suffered…and she succumbed…but between all this, she taught us the most important lesson of life….Learn to be Human…connect for a common cause..i.e. to Survive Humanity…So I salute this brave heart and her family for having gone through so much pain and we all are with her family in their moment of grief…Love her for her spirit and may she always rest in peace…She will always be cherished in our memories…God bless her soul….Thanks for stopping by, God bless us all in this New year, which should bring with it a new awakening, a new dawn…a new world of consciousness….

        Love!
        Seeta
